Day One, Thursday September 2nd
Everything went well except for a slight delay on takeoff from Edmonton City Centre due to needing a quick repair on Curtis’ helmet. The audio/visual/on line media was very kind to us but the print media (other than the folks from Metro) were strangely absent.
Climb out from ECCA was beautiful, soft sun, wild colours and the skyline of Edmonton behind us. Turning south just before Spruce Grove our track took us through smooth skies and over beautiful farmland and countryside while keeping us well away from the International airport control zone. Along the way Curtis and I talked of how the instructors and students would have used cross countries like this to teach navigation and airmanship and how the Bi Plane trainers would have been a great base to start the learning journey towards the heavier aircraft.
